Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of phal.ai (the “Service”). By creating an account, signing in as a guest, or purchasing credits, you agree to them. If you don’t, please don’t use the Service.

1. Service description

phal.ai is a conversational Vedic astrology assistant. You provide birth details (date, time, place) and ask questions; the Service computes your chart and generates answers rooted in classical Jyotiṣa rules. Chart math (planetary positions, dignity, dashas) is computed deterministically using the Swiss Ephemeris. Interpretation is generated by large language models with classical rule verification applied on top.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and provide a valid email address to create a persistent account. Guest mode is available without signup but does not persist context across sessions.

3. Account & sign-in

We use magic-link authentication. You enter your email; we send a one-time link that signs you in. We never store passwords. Keep access to your email secure — anyone with access to your inbox can sign in as you. You’re responsible for activity on your account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for content unrelated to astrology — our guardrails will politely decline off-topic requests.
  • Submit prompts designed to extract harmful, illegal, or abusive content, or to attempt to bypass our safety systems.
  • Scrape, mirror, or automate the Service. Programmatic access is not currently offered.
  • Submit birth data for a third party without their consent.
  • Resell or sublicense access to your account or credits.

5. Credits & payments

phal.ai is sold as one-time credit packs — no subscriptions, no auto-renewal. Pricing is on our pricing page. Payments are processed by Paddle as Merchant of Record. Paddle handles local currency display, tax collection (VAT, GST, sales tax, etc.), and payment-method compliance for your jurisdiction. We are an India-domiciled business offering the Service globally via Paddle. For refund terms see our refund policy.

6. Intellectual property

We own the Service — the software, design, prompts, classical-rule verification layer, and brand. You own your inputs (birth details, questions) and your chat history. We hold a limited license to process them solely to operate the Service for you. You may export or delete your data at any time.

7. Disclaimers

phal.ai is provided for guidance, reflection, and self-study. It is not a substitute for medical, legal, financial, psychological, or other professional advice. Chart calculations are deterministic and verifiable, but interpretations are generated by language models and may contain errors or omissions. We flag answers as uncertain when our verification layer is unable to fully ground them, but you should treat all readings as opinions to consider — not facts to act on without your own judgment.

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, phal.ai and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless phal.ai from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third party’s rights.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the Service, attempt to bypass safety systems, or violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time from settings, and request full data deletion by emailing us. Unused credit balances on accounts terminated for abuse are forfeit; on voluntary deletion, unused credits within the refund window may be refunded per our refund policy.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced via email or an in-app notice with reasonable notice before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in India where phal.ai’s business is registered.
